Water Wise: Synthetic Grass for Hotels, Businesses and Commercial Facilities

In California, droughts are more common than we like to admit, and environmental studies have recently determined that water shortages will be one of the planets biggest challenges over the next few decades. In order to survive these challenges, many business owners are looking for more ways to reduce their water usage.

Many businesses are starting to look for more environmentally and budget-friendly ways to maintain the landscaping at their commercial properties, as a result of these challenges.

The more water a business uses, the more it stands to save from reduces its mater consumption. While in residential neighborhoods, it has become acceptable to let your lawn die off and turn brown in times of drought, but at a commercial property, keeping up appearances is crucial. Your customers will likely be turned off by a dying, unattractive landscape surrounding your facilities. Customers might actually be concerned about your ability to meet their needs because it appears your company is unable to even meet the needs of their lawn.

Businesses Switching to Synthetic Grass

We are seeing more and more businesses following in the footsteps of local homeowners by converting their natural grass lawns with a money and water saving synthetic grass lawn from Pacific Grass & Turf.

Business owners can save thousands of dollars every year on maintenance costs as well, since synthetic grass never needs to be watered or mowed. In addition, synthetic grass looks beautiful, is durable, resilient and long-lasting. It will also never need any toxic pesticides or fertilizers to keep it healthy. Synthetic grass requires very little maintenance, and over time the money you save, your new artificial grass lawn will pay for itself!

Recently, Sony Pictures in Culver City, California became one of the latest businesses to make the switch to synthetic grass. The renowned studio, famous for producing hit films like “Skyfall,“The Amazing Spider Man,” and “21 Jump Street” switched out over 17,000 square feet of natural grass for eco-friendly, synthetic grass. This was on top of the 17,000 square feet that had already been installed, and they now have over 35, 000 sq ft of synthetic grass installed on studio property.

Hotels Switching to Synthetic Grass

The Asbury Hotel, a new hotel project being developed on the famed stretch of New Jersey boardwalk where long ago, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band got their start, will feature a synthetic grass recreation area among its many amenities.

It is not just US hotels that are discovering the benefits of switching to synthetic grass. Desert Ink, a landscape architecture firm based in Dubai, has installed synthetic grass at a number of residential and hotel builds, including the Midtown by Deyaar, a residential complex in Dubai’s international media production zone, and even a five-star hotel located on Dubai’s famous Palm Jumeirah.

“Artificial turf in this part of the world, is a better option than real turf in most scenarios,” explains Ben Bloomfield, director of Easigrass, a Dubai-based artificial grass supplier. “It’s hard wearing nature makes it ideal for intensively used areas such as playgrounds and sports pitches. It gives us great versatility to design with, because we are less restricted by the maintenance requirements, compared with natural turf.”

California homeowners are already switching from natural to synthetic grass in large volumes, it is only logical that business follow suit. Shrewd business owners are already on the lookout for ways to reduce their water usage, and we can expect more hotels, HOA’s, business, and commercial property owners to make the change to synthetic grass.
